National convention was held in Indianapolis, and the theme was “AΣA Love,” in honor of Robert Indiana’s LOVE sculpture at the Indianapolis Museum of Art.
Highlights:
The Martha Green Dimond Scholarship was awarded for the first time after having been established at the Diamond Jubilee Convention by Martha Green Dimond, AA, who served as the National Panhellenic Conference delegate, 1959-61.
Letha Gaskins, XX, had been so inspired by the visit to Alpha Chapter during the Diamond Jubilee Convention that she had returned to Indianapolis and recorded the event on canvas. At the Indianapolis Convention, she donated the painting to the Sorority’s and accepted contributions that entitled the donor to an opportunity to win the painting. Deborah Campbell, AA, won the painting and donated it to the Alpha Alpha Chapter. All contributions for the painting were donated to Special Olympics.
