Alpha Sigma Alpha hires director of communications & marketing and volunteer coordinator
Alpha Sigma Alpha is pleased to share the following staff announcements.
Director of Communications & Marketing
Lexi Carter Johnson, BΘ, will transition from her current role as the communications coordinator to the director of communications & marketing effective Aug. 16, 2021.
Lexi has served as the communications coordinator since 2018. Prior to her role on Alpha Sigma Alpha headquarters’ staff, Lexi served as the marketing and media intern at the Grand Haven Area Convention and Visitors Bureau. Lexi also served as the brand awareness intern for Girls on the Run Central Michigan and the communications intern at the Mt. Pleasant Area Chamber of Commerce. Lexi received her bachelor’s degree in integrative public relations from Central Michigan University with a minor in journalism.
As the director of communications & marketing, Lexi will be responsible for serving as the creative director, designer and editor for all communications and marketing projects; will manage organizational content strategies that connect with a multi-generational membership; and will oversee Affinity Programs and Crimson Collections.
Melissa Koch Merriam, EE, will join the national headquarters team as the volunteer coordinator effective Aug. 16, 2021.
Professionally Melissa most recently served as a Human Resources Expert for Target Corporation. Prior to Target, she worked for Infant Loss Resources, Inc, as their Development Coordinator. Melissa has served Alpha Sigma Alpha as a national council member since 2007 serving as national president 2014-18. Prior to her terms on national council, Melissa held numerous volunteer roles including district facilitator and volunteer recruitment & placement team leader. She also served as a leadership consultant in 2000-01. Her involvement after her presidency included Alpha Sigma Alpha Foundation volunteer roles and leading the Ritual revision study team. Melissa received her bachelor’s degree in business management from Emporia State University.
As the volunteer coordinator, Melissa will manage all aspects of the Sorority’s volunteer program. She will oversee the volunteer recruitment, training, retention and recognition
