Messages of Gratitude
I am grateful for Alpha Sigma Alpha and the Alpha Sigma Alpha Foundation because of the many opportunities they have offered me as a young alumna. One of the most impactful experiences that I have participated in is the Emma Coleman Frost Leadership Development Institute (LDI). Funded by the Foundation, LDI has always been one of the most significant experiences in my time as an Alpha Sigma Alpha. It has given me countless new women to welcome into my circle and has helped me instill confidence in other young women while growing in my own confidence.
Throughout every stage of my development, the Sorority and the Foundation have been there to offer unique opportunities to help me continue to develop as a woman and a member. In the next chapter of my membership as a national volunteer, I am excited to continue to grow as a woman and as a member through the organization’s newest endeavor, the Women’s Advancement Series. I firmly believe that Alpha Sigma Alpha has had a significant impact on the type of woman, leader and friend that I am. I know that the Foundation in partnership with Alpha Sigma Alpha has remained committed to helping women in all stages of membership grow and develop as women of poise and purpose.

I am grateful for Alpha Sigma Alpha and the Alpha Sigma Alpha Foundation because of the multitude of opportunities it has given me over the past five years of membership. When I came to college, I wanted to be able to give back to those around me in a unique way. I joined Alpha Sigma Alpha to continue my love of service and giving. Alpha Sigma Alpha has given me lifelong friendships and growth through various national events. Without the Alpha Sigma Alpha Foundation, the opportunities to attend The Academy, the Emma Coleman Frost Leadership Development Institute and The 2016 National Convention & Leadership Conference in Orlando, FL would not have been the same. As a representative from my chapter at The Academy, the opportunity arose for me to serve as a collegiate ambassador to the Foundation. Due to my work as a collegiate ambassador, I was given the opportunity to participate on the Foundation Ambassador Task Force Team for the past three years. The opportunity to assist the Alpha Sigma Alpha Foundation as a collegian has shown me how it truly gives back to its members. The Foundation holds a special place in my heart, where I will always look to provide my time and talents to giving back to those who have given so much to me.

I am grateful for Alpha Sigma Alpha and the Alpha Sigma Alpha Foundation because of the support I’ve been given as a new advisor for a brand new chapter. Coming into this experience two years ago, I had no idea what to expect. There were many times when I felt overwhelmed or too inexperienced to support such an incredible and ambitious group of women as they worked to build a new sisterhood. Having the opportunity to attend Advisor Institute these last two years has been invaluable. Speaking with advisors from chapters around the country really puts things into perspective and helps hammer home that we aren’t alone in this. Each time, I come away with new skills, a new support group and a renewed enthusiasm and determination to continue striving to be the best advisor I can be. This has been one of the most challenging and most rewarding experiences I’ve had, and I wouldn’t be able to succeed without the support of Alpha Sigma Alpha and the Alpha Sigma Alpha Foundation.

I am grateful for Alpha Sigma Alpha and the Alpha Sigma Alpha Foundation because of the journey of development on which they have taken me. I remember attending the Emma Coleman Frost Leadership Development Institute (LDI) as a collegian in 2013. The content of the program and relationships I made were exactly what I needed at that point in my membership. The most memorable part was the feeling of empowerment that I had walking out of that weekend. Recently, I was able to serve as a small group facilitator for LDI. One of my favorite parts was seeing my own experience reflected in those women. Seeing them with that feeling of inspiration and empowerment was such a rush, and made even better knowing that I was a part of that journey.
I am grateful for Alpha Sigma Alpha and the Alpha Sigma Alpha Foundation because I have been given the opportunity to give women exactly what Alpha Sigma Alpha gave me; a sense of belonging and a feeling of purpose. I had a recent encounter with a collegian who is finding the transition to college to be difficult on a personal level. So much of her story aligned with my own. I was in a toxic friendship and when I realized I needed to leave I thought I had no one to turn to, no friends. I was in a vulnerable place but the feeling of welcome and support from the women in my chapter was unlike anything I’d felt before. I needed a place to belong and that’s exactly what I found in Alpha Sigma Alpha. That is why I am a leadership consultant and why I feel so passionate about working with college women.
I am grateful for Alpha Sigma Alpha and the Alpha Sigma Alpha Foundation because I have been introduced to so many examples of women who are known for their character and concern for others. These women inspire me to strive for more in my personal life, work life and in every relationship. Seeing them care about others reminds me of the values and ideals set forth by Alpha Sigma Alpha.
