How to engage your alumnae membership
When was the last time your chapter communicated with its alumnae members? Chapters of Alpha Sigma Alpha are founded in the hard work, dedication and memories that both collegiate and alumnae members have contributed since the chapter’s beginnings. Whether a member graduated one or fifty years ago, alumnae bring the chapter’s history and eternal sisterhood to life. As a collegiate chapter, how are you continuously working to engage your alumnae members?
One of the best ways to get in touch with your alumnae membership is through personal outreach. E-newsletters are a great way to communicate upcoming opportunities with alumnae members. The chapter can additionally share recent accomplishments, photos and more. Collegiate vice presidents of alumnae & heritage have access to the Emma email system through the Sorority. Emma has newsletter templates available that follow Alpha Sigma Alpha’s brand standards, therefore making them simple to piece together. E-newsletters are free, easy to send out via email and help keep the alumnae membership updated on what the chapter is doing!
Another great way to promote chapter events for alumnae members is through the Alumnae Calendar featured on the main page of Alpha Sigma Alpha’s website. This calendar is a way for chapters to showcase any upcoming events open to alumnae. Members are able to search events by collegiate chapter, location and/or type of event. Simply click the link at the top of the calendar page to submit an event for the calendar. Make sure to regularly submit events so that alumnae know what is coming up!
To connect with alumnae, it is encouraged to plan chapter events that alumnae are specifically invited to. This can be a brunch co-hosted with a local alumnae chapter, a Founder’s Day event or an Alpha Sigma Alpha Ritual. There are many benefits to involving your chapter’s alumnae members. Time spent with alumnae fosters great connections and conversations over the history and memories of the chapter, as well as the bonds that come with Alpha Sigma Alpha’s sisterhood.
To ensure that the chapter is sending communications using the most up-to-date contact information for their alumnae members, regularly compare any chapter lists with the contact information on file at national headquarters as it could be more up-to-date. You can submit a request for an alumnae list via Officer Portal or by emailing asa@AlphaSigmaAlpha.org.
Alpha Sigma Alpha is for a lifetime, and the connection of sisterhood is one to be cherished.
