FEATURED SESSIONS

Keynote: Better Friends, Better Sisters, Better Women with Tina VanSteenbergen

Joining a sorority changes our lives. We use terms like “sisterhood” and “values” to describe what sorority brings to and teaches us. But, sorority changes us in one universal way: friendship.

Specifically, friendship with women.

Before sorority, Tina was unaware of the power of true, authentic friendship with other women – finding female friends was never a priority. She soon learned, at its core, friendship is what sorority is all about.

And yet, we all know of girl-on-girl drama that’s taking place in our chapters and communities. We talk behind each others’ backs. We choose jealousy and resentment over support and love. We compete instead of congratulate.

One of the real challenges in sorority leadership is acknowledging some of our less-productive impulses and tactics and using our leadership talents to steer our way to better relationships and better solutions. Tina teaches the audience how to unpack the true power of female friendships, and learn to be better friends, but better sisters, and better women.

Tina has been serving college students as a professional speaker for the past three years. She speaks to students around North America about how to bring the heart back to their leadership styles and the voices back to women in their organizations and relationships.

Career Track with JB Training Solutions

Part 1: Rocking your resume!  An insider’s guide to getting noticed
Whether you are just staring or actively pursuing a job search, it can be a daunting task. For every position, there are hundreds of qualified applicants. JB Training Solution’s experts draw on their experiences as hiring managers (over 10,000 candidates reviewed!) to show you what it takes to stand out in 10 seconds or less. In this dynamic session, participants learn to translate their AA leadership, community service and social networking expertise into high demand assets on a resume. They discover the seven pet peeves that almost guarantee a quick trip to the waste basket and how the right cover letter can drastically increase the chances of your achievements ever being seen.

Part 2: Crushing your interview!  An insider’s guide to landing a great job
So, how do you get someone to talk to you, and then make you a job offer? The reality is that only 8% of jobs come through internet job boards; 64% come from personal connections. Everyone needs to know the secrets of an effective networking system. Participants hear a hiring manager’s perspective on how to wow them based on 600 real interviews. It’s all about telling your story with passion and conviction, quantifying your accomplishments and spinning not so stellar experiences. You’ll even hear tips for toughies like “So, tell me about yourself” or “What’s your greatest weakness?” From who to target to what to say, you’ll have a clear plan for landing a job!
