Advisor Institute empowers new and tenured advisors with the tools and training they will need to be successful in their volunteer roles. With new techniques and ideas, as well as opportunities to practice familiar concepts, advisors have the opportunity to grow and develop in a comfortable setting with their peers.

This session will explore a simple conversation methodogy that will allow users to help others heighten the awareness of the value, strength and potential of individuals/groups to overcome self-imposed limits on capacity. The simple process allows leaders to ignite change or solve problems based on the best of where an individual or group has been.

Meet Generation Z

Co-author of Generation Z Goes to College, Meghan Grace will provide an overview of Generation Z characteristics, perspectives, motivations, concerns and learning. Gain insight on Generation Z students and develop strategies for working effectively with today’s collegiate women.

improv your advising & supervision

What do improv comedy and advising have in common? There are more similarities than you may expect. Listening, commitment and connection are three crucial rules of both. In this high energy, active program, advisors will have the opportunity to participate in a number of improv comedy exercises that will highlight being critical listeners and the importance of teamwork and support with their chapters and advisory boards.



The first two advisors per chapter to register will have a $0 balance owed for online registration.

Additional advisors will be required to pay $338 for an accommodations package at the time of registration. Visit the sponsorship tab to learn more about accommodation packages.

Held at the Hilton Indianapolis, located in the heart of downtown Indianapolis, advisors will also have the opportunity to experience the city’s sites and attractions on their own during program-free time. All advisors will be assigned to a 2-person room with 2 queen-size beds. Room reservations will be made by national headquarters staff. If you have a roommate request, please send your request to Kim Richard, director of events & programs.

Alpha Sigma Alpha will sponsor two advisors per chapter to attend Advisor Institute 2018. Sponsorships include:

  • Travel reimbursement up to $350
  • One 2-person hotel room at the Hilton Indianapolis for Friday and Saturday evening
  • One evening reception on Friday
  • Breakfast, lunch and dinner on Saturday
  • Breakfast on Sunday


The first two advisors per chapter to submit the online registration form will receive the sponsorship. An accommodations package can be purchased for each additional advisor attending. Accommodations packages are $338 per person and cover the following:

  • One 2-person hotel room at the Hilton Indianapolis for Friday and Saturday evening
  • One evening reception on Friday

It is recommended that advisors make travel plans when the online registration form is submitted.

  • Sponsored advisors: flight expenses will be reimbursed up to $350.
  • The closest airport is the Indianapolis International Airport (IND).
  • The hotel is located approximately 13 miles from the airport. The Indianapolis GO Express Shuttle is the recommended form of transportation to and from the airport.
  • Book your shuttle prior to arrival in Indianapolis
    • Shuttle reservations are available between 8 a.m. and 11 p.m. The shuttle stops at the Hilton Indianapolis (Stop 5) every hour at 0:24 and 0:54.
    • Upon arrival at the airport, head to Ground Transportation Zone 7 for shuttle pick-up.
  • Sponsored advisors: mileage will be reimbursed for $0.35 per mile up to $350.
  • Complimentary self-parking will be available in the Hilton Indianapolis parking garage. The entrance to the parking garage is on Market Street. For complimentary parking, you must take a parking ticket to enter the garage and give the ticket to the hotel receptionist at check-in.

  • If you would like to receive the reimbursement check at the event, submit the form by March 30, 2018.
  • If you would like to receive the reimbursement check after the event in the mail, submit the form below by April 27, 2018.

Please make note of the following:

When submitting a mileage reimbursement for travel in a personal vehicle, it is understood that the volunteer is a) responsible for keeping his/her automobile in good working condition, b) responsible for paying all operating costs of the automobile, and c) responsible for maintaining minimum auto liability limits of $100K/person bodily injury, $300K bodily injury aggregate per accident, $50K property damage aggregate per accident or $250K combined single limit. The volunteer understands that Alpha Sigma Alpha provides no auto liability protection for the volunteer while operating his/her own vehicle on any business related to the Sorority.

Depositing/cashing your check immediately upon receipt would be much appreciated.
