Alpha Sigma Alpha guides each extension opportunity with support, care and development. A colony support team is assigned to each colonization. A colony support team is lead by the membership growth coordinator at national headquarters. Each colony support team member is assigned by their experience and skill. Colony support teams are made up of local advisory boards, leadership consultants, district volunteers, a colony development coordinator and the membership growth coordinator. Team members are trained by staff and national volunteers. Each staff and team member has a defined role to support the members and new colony.

Financial support

Financial and personnel support is provided for each colony. During the colonization, members do not pay national collegiate dues or insurance. Those fees are provided by the national organization. During colonization members are working with the colony support team to develop their recruitment skills, chapter operations and participate in the membership education program, ΑΣΑ Advantage.

In preparation for colonization, the membership growth coordinator coordinates recruitment with the campus Panhellenic council and the campus administration. Recruitment activities are planned to build the colony membership. A team of staff members, district volunteers and national volunteers work together to host recruitment activities on campus. Area alumnae and collegiate members also participate in hosting recruitment activities, which allows potential new members the opportunity to meet with members and ask a variety of questions.

Recruitment and installation support

During recruitment and following bid day, the leadership consultant will facilitate the new colony through the membership education program, chapter operations and chapter activities, while guiding them through the benchmarks of installation. The colony support team will visit the colony to assist with a sisterhood retreat, officer training, chapter activities and installation weekend.

The initiation of new members and the installation of the colony into a chapter is a historical and magical experience for everyone involved. On Friday evening, members from the area gather for a sisterhood reception. On Saturday morning, ritual is held for the members and is conducted by national officers. Following ritual, a white luncheon is held in honor of the founding sisters and the newly installed chapter, at this time gifts for the chapter are presented by alumnae and collegiate chapters. On Saturday evening, a banquet is held for families, campus administration and founding sisters. Installation weekend is filled with excitement and celebration. Installation weekend is planned in collaboration by the colony and national organization .
