Making a Gift

Membership begins a lifetime of giving for most sisters of Alpha Sigma Alpha. Alpha Sigma Alphas give generously of their time to chapter activities and alumnae projects. They share their talents to advance women, our chapters, and our national organization. They also give monetarily to grow and sustain forever the positive experiences that only our sisterhood can offer to young women.

A public charity under Internal Revenue Code 501(c)3, the Alpha Sigma Alpha Foundation solicits contributions to fund qualifying programs for the Alpha Sigma Alpha Sorority and its members. In return, donor gifts are tax-deductible.

Unrestricted Gifts

Unrestricted gifts help the Foundation maintain operating capacity and flexibility to carry out programs and services. Donors include members, chapters, parents, friends, and companies that match employee gifts. With checks, bank drafts, charge card contributions, or other cash transactions most donors provide unrestricted gifts without restrictions, reflecting confidence in the Foundation’s management.

Endowed Gifts

Endowed fund donors make gifts that are held for long-term investment (e.g. scholarships). The resulting income can be used for purposes identified by donors or allocated by the Board of Trustees. Giving methods may include cash transactions of any kind, but they can also involve stocks, bonds, or other securities. Staff and Trustees work with donors to build existing funds or create new ones.

Planned Gifts

Certain gifts involve bequests, insurance policies, estate arrangements, annuities, property, or real estate in addition to stocks and securities. Through planned gifts, donors may be able to realize long-term tax or financial advantages or contribute substantial one-time gifts. The Foundation calls on experienced attorneys and financial experts to help donors and their families fulfill their wishes. For more information on planned giving, please click here.

Company Matched Gifts

Double your money! The Alpha Sigma Alpha Foundation can benefit from a Company Matched Gifts program. Many employers will match your contribution to the Foundation – doubling your gift and making more of your contribution to the Alpha Sigma Alpha Foundation. Please see this list of eligible gifts companies. If your company is not listed, check with the human resources department – matching gifts may be in the near future! The Alpha Sigma Alpha Foundation can receive matching gifts as directed from any employee of an eligible company – check the matching gifts companies list for your family and friends’ employers. If you find a match ask them to sign up for matching gifts to benefit the Alpha Sigma Alpha Foundation!

Heritage Society

The Heritage Society honors annual donors. Ensuring a strong base of support for Alpha Sigma Alpha in the long term, they are not just donors but champions of excellence. Membership in the Heritage Society is extended to Alpha Sigma Alpha members and friends making an unrestricted annual gift of $250 or more.

Lifetime Giving Rolls

Alpha Sigma Alpha Foundation has several lifetime giving rolls that recognize outstanding cumulative giving to the Foundation. Members of these rolls are exceptional people who, through their generosity, sustain Alpha Sigma Alpha’s purpose of developing women of poise and purpose. All donors with a lifetime giving total of $10,000 or more are recognized by a lifetime giving roll.

Wilma Wilson Sharp Society

Members of the Wilma Wilson Sharp Society are the visionaries of the Alpha Sigma Alpha Foundation. It is these valuable donors that provide for the future of Alpha Sigma Alpha by including the Foundation as a beneficiary of their wills, life insurance policies, retirement plans or testamentary trust/annuities.

Loyalty League

The Loyalty League is summarized by its name – loyalty. The Alpha Sigma Alpha Foundation honors those donors consistently making the Foundation a philanthropic priority. Regardless of the size of the gift, it is loyal participation that is most valued. Membership is extended to Alpha Sigma Alpha members and friends making gifts to the Foundation for five consecutive fiscal years or more. First year alumnae who make a gift to the Alpha Sigma Alpha Foundation are automatically members of the Loyalty League.

Circle of Strength

The Circle of Strength (COS) three year campaign was designed by the Alpha Sigma Alpha Foundation to better meet the financial needs of our membership. Membership to COS begins with a three year pledge of $1,500 ($500 a year). Three year pledges can start at anytime. Imagine all the things we can do to support Alpha Sigma Alpha; more leadership training programs, more event speakers, more district day programs, more education initiatives. Imagine helping us benefit the generations to follow in Alpha Sigma Alpha. To show our gratitude, a beautiful piece of artwork by Bobbi Samples, Kindred Spirits, will be sent to each member who has also realized the importance of the Foundation’s goals. • COS Club Pledge Form

1901 Society

The Alpha Sigma Alpha Foundation proudly offers the 1901 Society! This program is expressly for undergraduates, and asks for annual contributions of only $19.01 during college years. Upon registration into the 1901 Society each sister will be awarded a special dangle to wear proudly with her badge. For each subsequent renewal an additional dangle will be awarded to indicate the number of years she has been a member of 1901. Four dangles will be awarded in the following order: a single heart, a double heart, a dollar sign, and the final coveted “1901” dangle. All monies raised through the 1901 Society will go towards unrestricted funds, which help support many educational programs of the sorority.
