Alpha Sigma Alpha National Sorority is accepting applications and recommendations for the leadership development & event coordinator position. The leadership development & event coordinator is a vital team member in furthering the sorority’s mission and purpose. Alpha Sigma Alpha strives to develop women of poise and purpose and provides opportunities through sisterhood, heritage, leadership and service.
Alpha Sigma Alpha National Headquarters is located in Indianapolis, Indiana, which also serves as the home for many members of the Greek community. Alpha Sigma Alpha is supported by hundreds of national volunteers and employs 14 staff members. The sorority works in partnership with the Alpha Sigma Alpha Foundation which supports the sorority's educational and leadership programs, offers academic scholarships and sustains the philanthropic endeavors of the sorority. Alpha Sigma Alpha has 153 active collegiate and alumnae chapters.
The leadership development & event coordinator oversees the planning and execution of all national events. This position manages the sorority’s educational programming and initiatives and works with volunteers to develop the educational curriculum for events. This position includes planning, budgeting, registration, execution, coordination and evaluation of all national events. The staff member also oversees educational programming for the sorority. Applicants must have the ability to manage multiple priorities, have initiative and stamina, possess a high level of standards and be able to motivate and lead individuals and groups.
Applicants should possess the following professional qualifications: demonstrated experience in event planning and curriculum development, excellent organizational and communication skills, proficient usage of computer technology, ability to work effectively with volunteers and a commitment to the purpose of Alpha Sigma Alpha. A minimum of a bachelor’s degree in related field is required. A minimum of two years professional experience in either a nonprofit or related field is preferred. Membership in Alpha Sigma Alpha is desirable, but not a requirement.
